Exeter Children’s Orchestra will stage a Summer Concert at 11am.

A HIGHLY successful youth orchestra of more than 100 talented musicians will perform in Sidmouth’s Connaught Gardens tomorrow (Saturday July, 9).

Exeter Children’s Orchestra will stage a Summer Concert at 11am.

They will perform a wide range of music including classical, pop and music from films and shows.

Organisers promise something for everyone and have invited residents to bring a picnic and enjoy the entertainment.

Many of the performers live in Sidmouth including Jerome Blackburn, a pupil at Sidmouth College, who is percussion section and also plays for Sidmouth Town Band.

Jerome has just been awarded a place at South West Music School.

Exeter Children’s Orchestra (ECO) were broadcasted on Radio 3 recently with a recording of the Exeter City March an arrangement that their musical director, Richard Bowyer composed for Exeter City Football Club.

ECO has just been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service- the MBE for volunteer groups- for their outstanding work to their local community and some its members will attend a Queens Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in July.

ECO have regular concerts in Exeter throughout the year and last year the orchestra toured Russia, invited by Yaroslavl City Council, which is twinned with Exeter, as part of their 1,000 year celebrations to perform in a number of musical events.
