A Sidmouth singer-songwriter is juggling auditions with her education but has her heart set on a talent competition.
Ellie Griffiths has honed her skills at London’s famous Brit School, but still recalls the teachers at St John’s who first inspired her.
She faces a stressful week in the TeenStar competition – her AS-level finals are just two days before the finals at the O2 Arena.
“I’m more nervous about the exams,” she said. Ellie knows success isn’t guaranteed – she’s doing more A-levels than she needs to and is looking forward to university.
The former Millford Road resident said she has always wanted to be a singer, ever since she was in a performance at St John’s School, with Mr Foster, who has now retired.
The 17-year-old also recalls Miss Wynn, who classically trained her voice, just like one of Ellie’s heroes, Alicia Keys.
