WELL-KNOWN names from the Sidmouth stage will come together for a night focusing on the town's young talent.

Sidmouth Youth Variety Show, at the Manor Pavilion, on Saturday, April 4, is presented by Sidmouth Lions Club, compered by the inimitable Wally Cotgrave and directed by Marc Colson. All proceeds from the charity show will benefit local youth.

Acts include members of Sidmouth Youth Theatre singing songs from hit shows, group performances by Sidmouth Scouts and Sidmouth Air Training Corps and some great young musicians, singers and dancers.

Hannah Thompson will be among solo performers. Hannah, 12, is already a seasoned performer at the Manor Pavilion, having appeared in Sidmouth Youth Theatre productions since the age of three. She has sung in many variety concerts and shows for other societies. Sidmouth audiences were enchanted by Hannah's performances as Little Cosette in Les Miserables in 2005 and in Annie in 2007.

Jessica Rose Morris has appeared on the Manor stage many times. Many will remember her as Dorothy in the Youth Theatre's version of The Wiz. She dances, sings and acts and last year played the title role of Gigi for Sidmouth Arts Club & Operatic Society. She is currently rehearsing for Thoroughly Modern Millie, which is being performed here at Easter.

Steve Horton who has a range of interests, expressly in theatre and drama, will also star in the show. He has appeared in a vast range of productions, mainly through the Sidmouth Youth Theatre, including We Will Rock You, The Return to the Forbidden Planet, The Wiz and, more recently, he has starred as the lead in the musical Scrooge. He has also taken part in The East Devon Wrestling Federation, becoming a champion in his first year and now helping to run it.

Also new this year, and coming all the way from Newton Poppleford, is a group called 'The Newts' which is the Junior section of The Riverside Players. This group has been performing since 2006 in various variety shows and pantos and for, this show, they will be reprising the Dwarfs routine from the Players' very successful Snow White and the seven Dwarfs pantomine in February!

Tickets 8 per adult and 5 per child under 14 years old, are available from the Theatre Box Office (01395) 514413.
