The SS American is setting sail as Sidmouth Musical Theatre launches Anything Goes, its Easter production at the Manor Pavilion Theatre, writes Tricia Barclay.
Nightclub singer Reno Sweeny is en route from New York to London with her stowaway chum Billy Crocker in pursuit of his new love, wealthy debutante Hope Harcourt, in this updated, fresher and funnier version of the original script with many additional Cole Porter songs.
With the experienced hands of director Nigel Broome at the helm, musical director John Griswold below firing up the musical engine-room, choreographer Vicky Evans up top on the dance deck with some class-act routines, and a talented company of motley passengers and crew on board ship, this should make for a humdinger of a crossing!
Anything Goes runs from Saturday April 20 – Saturday April 27 (no Sunday performance) 7.45pm, Saturday matinée April 27 2.30pm. Tickets £17 (under 16 £14 matinée only) Theatre Box Office 01395 514 413.
