There's no better time than now for a giant spring clean-up down the Sid Valley in aid of Sidmouth's biggest bargain hunt of the year, writes Kingsley Squire.
So, search in those garden sheds, attics and workshops for all those unwanted bits and pieces that may be of use to somebody at the Salcombe Regis Country Fair on Thursday, May 29, in aid of the Living With Cancer group founded by Bill and Evelyn Lankester.
Old tools, kitchenware and gadgets, children's toys, books, craft items, pictures and cakes will all be gratefully received by the organisers to make the fair a bumper fundraiser for a very worthy cause.
They will, surprise surprise, even take any spare gold and silver!
"It really is a wonderful opportunity for a glorious spring clean," says committee man Mike Newman.
"It's amazing the variety of items that turn up every year. There really is a bargain for everyone."
The landmark fair, held in the loveliest of church and village settings, has raised over £40,000 for local charities since it started.
Contact Mr Newman on (01395) 513313 for further information and arrangements about collection of items if needed.
