RESURRECTED Sidmouth Caribbean Night will happen again, say organisers, after thousands enjoyed the colourful reggae bonanza on Saturday night.

Wet weather preceding the revived summer spectacular didn’t dampen more than 2,000 revellers’ spirits at Knowle as the event returned after a five year absence.

“It’s good to be back-, it’s been wet but it’s going to get hot in here,” The Real Thing told crowd members as they began their set.

Hurricane Force followed on as Heart FM DJs Chris Dinnis and Kevin Kane fronted the fun.

“It will definitely happen again,” organiser Ben Wring told the Herald. “We didn’t get the numbers we wanted, but we still made so many people happy.

“The weather was against us, but overall it was a resounding success.

“It was a success because everyone enjoyed it so much. So many people stopped me to say how much they loved it. I’ve even been getting calls at my office this week from people saying how great it was- and to please bring it back next year.

“No one has come back to us with anything but positive things. I’m really pleased.

“As far as I’m aware there were no complaints about sound.

“We want to build on the reputation of a good quality night and have got the ball rolling. It was a proper comeback.

“Making that first impression is what counts. My resounding memory of the night is that we made the right first impression to people who weren’t quite convinced it would be of the calibre it once was. It’s onwards and upwards from here.”

Security expert Ben revived the tradition in a bid to provide his home town with a top notch community event.
