Christmas Day photos, exclusively obtained by the Sidmouth Herald, of the Polish man who fell 300ft to his death from a cliff near Beer have been released.
Family man Jacek Wojtala, who is believed to have been posing for a photo holding onto a tuft of grass, is shown with his wife Agnieszka and three daughters in a poignant family portrait. Mr Wojtala was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics on Sunday afternoon, April 12. A police spokesman said his family in Slupsk, Poland had been informed on April 15.
The 39-year-old had moved to the UK in 2005 for work and had been living in Tiverton. It is understood he was visiting the beauty spot with two other Polish men.
Tributes flooded in on the Polish social network Nasza Klasa. But some people have written comments on a forum mocking the accident, which is believed to cause further upset to the family. People purporting to be Mr Wojtala's aunt and nephew have criticised the writers of the insensitive remarks on Anglia.Interia.pl, asking how they would feel if they lost a loved one in such circumstances.
Eyewitnesses said Mr Wojtala was pretending to fall and police described the incident as a 'tragedy.'
