The Deaf Academy in Exmouth is seeking governors to join its governing body, as well as trustees to serve on the board of trustees for the wider charity.

For both roles they are looking for volunteers who have skills and experience across health, therapies, education and SEN, care and social work, and workforce development.

Applications from members of the Deaf community who bring their unique lived experience of deaf culture are particularly welcome.

Dame Angela Pedder OBE, chair of trustees said: “This is an exciting time to be joining us as we continue to expand our provision, increase our student population and look to develop and diversify our charity.

“It is extremely rewarding to be part of an organisation that truly makes a difference to Deaf children and young people’s lives. All of our students have additional needs and we are one of the only Deaf Schools in the country that also focuses on the social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs of our students.

“If you are interested in either of the roles and think you have something to offer, we welcome hearing from you.”
