Plans have been submitted to take away the old HSBC shop front in Sidmouth High Street.
The front of the store will be replaced with a new shopfront in both Fore Street and New Street to make way for a new store to take over the building.
The application states: "Having studied the planning history of the building, it is clear that this building has already undergone changes to the shop front of which we wish to replace. The building in question, HSBC, Fore Street, Sidmouth is not a Heritage Asset, and is a building within the Conservation Area of Sidmouth.
"The building was formerly an HSBC bank, whereby now empty, the applicant is keen to obtain a new tenant. The site lies along two main streets in Sidmouth, Fore Street and New Street."
"This particular building has undergone major changes to the frontage at ground floor level when it became the HSBC Bank, whereby
When approved, the front will be restored with 'something more typical of this area of the Town, similar to that of Seasalt, adjacent, with a traditional timber stool riser and large glazed panels.'
The application is awaiting a decision from the district council. Full application 23/1662/FUL
