A petition has been launched to save Sidmouth's Woolbrook Pharmacy from closing next year.
Boots UK announced its plans to close the popular Sidmouth store in February 2024.
A closure notice was advertised in the pharmacy at the start of November, leading to concerns from residents who face difficulties accessing the alternative Boots store on Fore Street.
Following a letter he wrote to the Managing Director of Boots UK, Sebastian James, on November 6 to express his disappointment with the decision, Simon Jupp, the MP for East Devon, has now launched a petition to save the pharmacy.
Highlighting the popularity of the store, its experienced staff, and the important service they provide to the most vulnerable and elderly in Sidmouth, the MP is calling on local residents to sign his petition and send a clear message to Boots UK that they should not close the store.
Mr Jupp said: “I need our community’s help to send a clear message to Boots that they should not close their Woolbrook Pharmacy in Sidmouth.
“The staff are fantastic, it’s very popular and provides an important service to the most vulnerable and elderly who can pick up their prescriptions with ease.
“The more who sign, the better case we can make to stop its closure.”
