Otter Vets in Sidmouth has donated £1000 to Sidmouth Hospice at Home.

The practice applied for a community grant, made available from the practice’s parent company, IVC Evidensia

Charlotte Dady, business manager and registered veterinary nurse, from Otter Vets said: “It's brilliant we’ve been able to win a community grant for Sidmouth Hospice at Home as being able to donate to this cause and help a charity in our local area who provide high-quality care is important to our team here at Otter Vets as this is what we also endeavour to provide for our animal patients.”

Al Cameron, CEO, from Sidmouth Hospice at Home said: “We’re so grateful to the team at Otter Vets for selecting us for their community grant. The donation will make a big difference in helping us funding our leading specialist service to our wonderful community. 100% of this donation will be put towards funding our nursing service."

Sidmouth Hospice at Home's HQ in Sidford provides specialist palliative and end of life care across the Sid Valley with a team of 11 nurses, 75 volunteers and 7 staff.

Their aim is to allow people to die in their preferred place of death, which for most people is at home. Using their own ‘Sidmouth Integrated Model for Specialist Palliative Nursing’, last year Sidmouth Hospice at Home cared for 183 patients in their last year of life, and enabled 96% to remain at home in the Sid Valley, where they wanted to be.

Otter Vets is part of one of the world’s leading veterinary care providers, IVC Evidensia, which launched its Community Grants Fund in early 2022. The grants are aimed at helping local veterinary practices to be able to play an active role in the local communities in which they operate.

IVC Evidensia supports employee-nominated charities across its global group. It is pledging up to £300,000 every year in the form of £1,000 grants which its veterinary practices can donate to local causes. The company has committed to donating 300 community grants in 2022 and aims to make 1000 grants by 2025.
