Primley WI’s fundraising activity for 2023 culminated in the presentation of cheques for £400 each to the Sidmouth Community Christmas Lunch, and to the Mustard Seed Cafe.

A successful round of fundraising supported the creation of a garden at the Sidmouth Hospice at Home HQ in Sidford, Primley WI Members turned their attention to raising money for two other charities, Sidmouth Community Christmas Lunch, and the Mustard Seed Cafe.

Funds were raised through the annual Christmas Fayre held in November. The Fayre featured seasonal stalls, a tombola and raffle, home made soup and cakes, accompanied by musical entertainment from the Sid Vale Folk Choir and local organist, Andy Bennoy.

A cheque for £400 was presented to Carla Scott, organiser of the Sidmouth Community Christmas Lunch, at a recent Primley WI meeting.

Sidmouth Community Christmas Lunch provides Christmas dinner for local people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day. Volunteers are recruited to run the event every year for around 50 local people.

A cheque for £400 was also donated to the chair and volunteers of the Mustard Seed Cafe which runs a community cafe for local people.
