Newton Poppleford, Harpford and Venn Ottery Parish Council are working to form a 'robust' contingency plan to prevent flooding the village.
Devon County Council are reviewing flooding in Burrow Lane, Newton Poppleford and the Environment Agency is looking at the Back Brook and the river as it passes through Webber’s meadow.
The Parish Council, in conjunction with partnership agencies is continuing to work on a Contingency Plan to ensure assistance is readily available when needed.
A spokesman for the council said: "This is especially important following the disastrous flooding of 9th May last year that affected many villagers throughout the Parish.
"Flooding is still occurring, and work is still very much underway to recognise and deal with future possible occurrences.
"We now have stocks of emergency flood defence equipment which will ensure that we have supplies in Newton Poppleford, Venn Ottery and Harpford for any future occurrence."
