THE funeral of the last survivor of the Titanic, who had many close friends and family in Branscombe, was held this week.
Millvina Dean died on May 31, aged 97, and a private service took place in Southampton on Tuesday.
Millvina was only nine weeks old when the Titanic sank in 1912 and was saved along with her mother and brother.
Her Branscombe-born father, Bertram Dean, perished. Millvina was brought up in Southampton but regularly visited Branscombe for holiday and she classed it as her real home.
It is thought a memorial service marking Millvina's life may take place later this year.
