Twelve Sidmouth players took up the club's full allocation of tickets for the Devon Cricket League Awards Night at the Exeter Court Hotel at Kennford last Friday evening.

In the individual awards, the club's only winner was Miles Dalton who won the Premier League 2nd XI bowler of the season. He took 32 wickets at an average of 9.44.

Dalton also played a handful of 1st XI games so his wicket tally could have been even higher if he had played more games for the 2nd XI.

The league winners’ trophies were then presented. First up for Sidmouth was 2nd XI Captain Saj Patidar to collect the Premier 2nd XI Championship Trophy. This was the third success in a row for the 2nd XI and the sixth time in the last seven years that the side has won the championship.

The last championship to be presented was the 1st XI Premier League Trophy and it was Sidmouth's Will Murray who collected the trophy on behalf of the team for the third year in succession.

Murray has now won four championships in a row since taking over as Sidmouth captain, three Premier Leagues and one A Division.

Never before, in the history of the Devon League, has one club collected three 1st and 2nd XI titles in a row.

This is undoubtedly a golden era for the club and the hard work will have to continue if they are to maintain this tremendous sequence of achievements.

The final award of the evening was the Devon League Player of the Year where Sidmouth had two strong candidates in Murray and Josh Bess.

However, neither was to be successful as the DCL management committee judged the efforts of J Ford of Bideford (from the B Division), who scored 716 runs at an average of 51.14, to be more worthy of this prestigious award.

Finally the fixtures for the 2011 season have just been announced.

On the opening day of the season on May 7, the 1st XI start at Bradninch, the 2nd XI entertain Exeter and the 3rd XI are at home to Plymstock.
